Conor McAleny's double ensured Salford inflicted yet another home defeat on Notts County.

County's Jodi Jones threatened twice early on, testing Alex Cairns with a powerful effort before going dragging his shot wide of the near post.

But it would be the visitors who took the lead with their first effort on target as Sam Austin was dispossessed, allowing McAleny to take aim and fire the ball in off the post.

The Magpies drew level nine minutes after the restart, Austin atoning for his earlier error as his cross deflected into the path of Dan Crowley who finished high into the net.

Both sides continued to create opportunities for a winner as Macaulay Langstaff's effort was saved well by Cairns, before McAleny went close once more but was unable to curl in his second of the afternoon.

However, McAleny had the final say, finishing smartly beyond Sam Slocombe to leave Stuart Maynard still searching for his first home win since becoming Notts head coach.

    Wrexham fan here... Can't believe you lost again. The way you played last season you should be much closer to the top, play offs at least. Hope things pick up soon. Your fan base deserves more.

    If this goes on much longer revenue will plummet,all the good work has been pi55ed up the wall. It’s so apparent to the fan base that SM is totally out of his depth,the brothers need to acknowledge their mistake and get someone in before pre season as I can only see a relegation battle if he’s still here,so many players not up to standard and a huge rebuild is needed,Montague should be first out

      Defo need to ship out a number of players. Chicksen, Cameron, Brindley, Stone, Morias, Rawlinson, Adebayo-Rowling to name a few!!
      And for those that don’t know our squad 5/7 of those names are defenders!!

    We have the 2nd best attack in the league but have the defence that is the worst , even worse than rock bottom Forest Green . The defence is a major embarrassment for the club and if it wasn’t for the early season form we would be relegation fodder . Its just sad , so much promise for the season but if we survive this season it will be a success .

    Listening to SM post match he is deluded. JJ got 20ish assists in 25 games. He has got 1 in 10 i think since the manager decided to play him in half a dozen positions. Who takes a guy who has created SO MANY chances and starts playing him in positions that dont fit his skill set. No wonder the goals have dried up. SM is not a League Manager and the owners must see this!!

    Is it just me or are we now in danger of losing Macca, JJ and Crowley because of the dire tactics, formation and style of play? I feel that team spirit that had us with top scorer and top assister in all four leagues at the half way point. These boys deserve to show they can perform at a higher level and previously believed they could do that at Notts. I fear for our club.

    Well our season is now officially over if it wasn’t already. Some Notts players today proved they are not up to the step up in standard and for me it’s time to bench the likes of Chicksen & Cameron for rest of the season. Cameron a joke of a captain and inspires nothing in the team. Salfords first goal comes from a pathetic attempt of a tackle ‘ooh I’ll just wave me leg at ya’ bang goal just poor!

      Did you see our illustrious captain mocking the Pavis when they booed as he passed backwards yet again when there were options going forward. He is an embarrassment of a player and not fit to play for us let alone captain the side,he doesn’t lead and is a liability whenever he has the ball

    well, again same pattern of play, its not suited in that division, salcome is a liabilty, the back four are out of their abilty zone, wimbledon, ie the crazy gang, show how to play in the lower divisions, up and over, no messing passing back all the time, whats langstaff giving out orders to the players, thats the managers job, what a shabbles

    Its abit of shame really the manager seems like a nice decent bloke but isn't doing the business. I would give him the benefit of the doubt but I could smell playing for the draw at the weekend once it was 1-1 and it went disastrously wrong. Certainly, for our home games we should be going gung-ho for the win whether is 6-5 or 3-1. Needs to go at the end of the season if no improvement.

      This is no secret, to beat us just sit back wait for the loose pass as we pass the ball 200 times in our own half, quick ball over the top or down the wing, shoot score repeat. We will even leave 3 at the back to give you that extra space despite it being our undoing on about 74 occasions this year. How to beat Notts in less than 400 characters :(

    Deluded Maynard quoting passes and possession as the most by any team v Salford.
    Passes don't count , only goals ! 14 shots apiece two on target for Notts & 7 or for Salford .
    Notts need to toughen up too conceded 3 fouls & 20 from Salford .
    No complaints about result , but how was Hendry
    not sent off ?
    Already on a yellow , a disgusting OTT leg breaker on SS not seen by officials.

      A very thuggish approach to their game but look who their manager is, the ref let them get away with far too much but we could have been playing Salford girls under 11 side and still lost that’s how bad SM has made us,we were struggling before he came due to Montagues incompetence in the recruitment department but SM has put the icing on it.

    As a Swindon STH visiting Notts and going to the game yesterday, I strongly suspect County will be alright next week. Swindon are defensively worse than NC, and don’t have anyone close to the quality of Crowley or Jones. Swindon form has been horrendous since October, Pies should be expecting an away win.
